Hook up DJ speakers to an amp with standard audio cables.
DJ speakers pump out the volume with power drawn from a stereo amplifier. The speakers connect to the amp with standard 1/4-inch audio cables, while the amp typically hooks up with a mixing board to manage the overall sound from a variety of sources, such as turntables, CD players or a computer loaded with digital music. The setup for a basic DJ speaker system, including a pair of stereo speakers, should take less than half an hour.
Instructions
1. Unplug the amp from the electricity.
2. Place the DJ speakers on each side of the staging area where the DJ will work, with the speakers at least 10 feet apart for stereo separation.
3. Plug an audio cable from the input jack on the back of each DJ speaker to an output jack on the back of the amplifier. The left-hand speaker (when facing the stage) should connect to the left audio output on the amp. The right speaker, as seen when facing the stage, should connect to the right audio channel.
4. Plug a set of audio cables from the amplifier's input jacks to a set of audio OUT jacks on the mixing board.
5. Connect other equipment to the audio inputs on the mixing board using stereo cables.
