Block Cytokines Naturally With Nettle Leaf Extract

Herbs have long been used to treat many kinds of health problems.

The stinging nettle, any of several members of the genus Urtica, is a perennial plant that grows wild in much of the world. Extract made from crushed nettle leaves helps relieve the pain of arthritis, sore muscles and gout, as well as other inflammatory conditions. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, nettle leaf extract has the ability to block cytokines, a normal part of the body's immune system that can sometimes cause pain and inflammation.

Instructions

Capsules and Tablets

1. Check the strength of the nettle leaf extract tablets or capsules. Both 1 gram and 2 grams are commonly used.

2. Take 3 to 4 grams of nettle leaf extract in capsule or tablet form twice per day. A daily total of 6 to 8 grams is effective in blocking pain caused by cytokines in adults. There is no established recommended dosage for children.

3. Drink a glass of water immediately after consuming the nettle leaf extract to make sure the pills reach your stomach and are properly digested.

Liquid

4. Put 2 to 5 ml of the fluid form of nettle leaf extract in tea or another beverage. Use 2 ml for adults with smaller body size or for mild symptoms. Increase to 5 ml for larger people or higher levels of pain. There is no established dose for children.

5. Mix in well and drink the entire amount. Drinking the nettle leaf extract without mixing it into a beverage is acceptable as well.

6. Repeat this three times per day for best results.
