Book a Ticket for Train Travel From Portland to Eugene
1. Reserve a ticket or tickets using the Amtrak Web site (see Resources). Here, you can book tickets using a major credit card.
2. Choose to book your Amtrak ticket by phone instead. Call (800) USA-RAIL.
3. Continue to search different dates until you find the route that best meets your scheduling needs. Keep in mind that some scheduled services do not have daily service. If your travel plans are flexible, it is a good idea to search several different dates in order to find the best route for you.
4. Input your days of travel into Amtrak's travel system online. If you are traveling only one-way, there is no need to type in a date for return.
5. Print your e-confirmation as verification of your purchase.
6. Choose among several choices of routes between Portland and Eugene.
Prepare to Depart for Eugene
7. Bring your e-confirmation with you to retrieve your hard-copy train tickets at the Portland train station.
8. Check with Amtrak online or by phone to verify that your train is departing at the scheduled time on the day of departure to avoid delays or cancellations.
9. Arrive at least a half an hour early to check in luggage and find your train platform. If you are traveling with children or a lot of baggage, you may want to allow extra time.
