Become A Thin Model

Many people have been told that they have the face for modeling, but very few have the body. Even if you are already working as a commercial model, you may have been told that you still need to lose a few pounds in order to access high fashion jobs. This can be a slippery slope if you want to stay healthy, and it will pay off to keep your health and nutrition in mind or you can lose your model looks even as you gain your model body.

Instructions

1. Make sure that you are getting enough vitamins and minerals. To become model thin, you will have to seriously curtail your caloric intake, which, of necessity, means cutting the volume and types of foods you consume. To do this safety, you must make sure that you are meeting your nutritional needs through vitamin supplements if you are not going to be getting them through your natural diet.

2. Talk to a dietician. Being a thin model--or just plain model-thin--is not traditionally considered healthy. As a result, if you want to get and stay a thin model, you will need to develop a practical diet that will enable you to have enough energy to work without potentially adding pounds to your frame.

3. Work on your stamina. Weight lifting and intense cardio activity are good for weight loss and fitness modeling, but can add too much muscle bulk for a thin model. Swimming long distances, such as 500 to several thousand yards per day, will help build your stamina and elongate your muscles so that you are toned without being bulky. If you cannot swim, focus on any type of endurance training, such as long steady runs, rather than hard cardiovascular workouts that might take 30 minutes or less.

4. Monitor your weight carefully. Being a thin model is not necessarily healthy, and you may tread a fine line between being so thin that your health is in jeopardy and being thin enough to work in high fashion. Keep careful track of your weight so that you know if you are plunging below a weight that your body can tolerate.

5. Be accountable. Losing weight and maintaining an excessively thin physique can actually release endorphins into your system that will make you feel good. This can help you stay motivated, but it can also cause you to get carried away with your new thin look. Having someone who is helping you track your progress and that will help you call a halt when you achieve your look and goal can help keep you safe.

6. Update your portfolio and your book. As your look changes, you will need to make sure that your book reflects this. This will entail not only new photography sessions, but also new styles of clothing and possibly hair that indicate that you are now a model with a variety of looks. If you hope to model couture clothing, for example, then you will need to have pictures that indicate what you look like in this type of fashion attire rather than images that reflect your older style.

7. Get out there. If you are debuting a new appearance, then now is the time to be visible. Even if you have steady work already, going to castings and even promoting yourself online can help get your new, thinner image out there so that people who might previously not have known about you or considered you for work will have your new look in mind when they are starting a project.
