Book A Fitness Cruise

Going on a cruise no longer means eating butter-drenched meal after butter-drenched meal and then lying on a lounge chair for hours. Today's cruise crowd expects action during their seaboard adventures. A fitness theme cruise accommodates the growing desire to stay active on a vacation.

Instructions

1. Decide what kind of fitness cruise you want to take by searching the website for Cruise Line International at Cruising.org. You can choose from aerobics to golf to horse-back riding or you can select a more generalized approach, such as the Total Fitness cruise offered by a number of major cruise lines, including Norwegian and Carnival.

2. Consider where you'd like to go on your cruise, once you've chosen the activity. If you want to play basketball on your cruise, your options range from a tour of Europe to a Caribbean voyage. For on-board snorkeling, your choices range from Alaska to the Panama Canal.

3. Decide which cruise line you want to take. Once you've identified which fitness theme suits you best and where you want to go, this will narrow down your choice to a handful or less of cruise line options. Go to TripAdvisor.com to read reviews of the cruise lines you're considering to help make a final decision.

4. Decide how long your fitness cruise adventure will last. This will depend on your budget and how much time you can escape from everyday responsibilities. Generally, less expensive cruises will be for three to five days, while week long voyages can get pricey.

5. Choose a cabin. Again, your budget will come into play. A small room with no view will be the least expensive option, but if funds are unlimited, go for a large cabin with luxury features like a whirlpool bath and walk in closet.
