Proper rhythmic breathing comes natural to some, but others have to monitor their breathing rate when running. Breathing properly can help maintain endurance as well as prevent discomfort to your lungs. Read on to learn about breathe when running.
Instructions
1. Before setting out for your run, put both hands behind your head and take a few deep breaths. For each exhale, try to compress as much air out of your lungs as you can. This will help clear any stale air.
2. Keep your back straight when running so that your lung capacity isn’t compromised.
3. Begin slowly by jogging. Breathe in through your nose for two steps then breathe out of your mouth for two steps. You can count in your head to pace yourself.
4. Keep this slow steady pace for a couple minutes until you feel comfortable.
5. Increase your jogging speed to a quicker running speed that is challenging yet comfortable for your body. Breathe through your nose for four steps then breathe out of your mouth for four steps.
