1. Select a website platform--there are many free options available online for building your own site, for instance, there are several blog hosting sites that do not charge, such as Blogger or Wordpress.
2. Choose a name for your website that is easy to search. Select something that relates to the study course you're designing and is easy to remember. Search for key words related to the subject of your study course and create a name out of those--this will allow your blog to come up in internet searches more easily. Make the blog name and the URL name the same, if possible.
3. Design/decorate your page. Choose neutral colors and themes. Avoid cluttering the page with unnecessary frills--you want a simple background that does not distract from the content you will be posting. Choose a posting template that is easy to navigate, for both you and the website viewer.
Desiging the Study Course
4. Choose the topic for which you are designing the study course. Find a study course, online or in print, that covers the same topics you wish to cover. Read the guide to find tips on organization of information and order of instruction.
5. Create goals or objectives for the study course you are designing. Write these goals in specific and actionable terms; for instance "students will learn these 20 vocabulary words" as opposed "students will expand vocabulary".
6. Write lessons and activities that help students or viewers of your website study course achieve the objectives and goals of the course. Create content that directly lines up with your objectives.
7. Write lessons and activities in clear, simple language. Avoid including any content that can be interpreted in more than one way--since this is a study course online and not taught in person, the students will not have the benefit of asking clarifying questions.
8. Upload your study course material onto the site you have already created. Store lessons in order of importance so that viewers can link back to the information in a way that is logical and supports the linear and chronological study of the content.
