Adjust The Temp On A Rheem Water Heater

Your Rheem water heater has a thermostat on it that allows you to adjust the water temperature up and down. Be aware that operation costs will increase as you turn the thermostat up. Also, the risk of burns significantly increases once the water temperature exceeds 125 degrees Fahrenheit. It is recommended to keep your water temperature set to no warmer than 120 F. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Locate the thermostat on the Rheem hot water heater. It should be near the gas control on the water heater.

2. Turn the dial on the thermostat to the wide reference mark located near "WARM" on the dial. This reference mark reflects an approximate temperature of 120 F.

3. Allow the water heater to sit for a half hour. This provides time for the water temperature to regulate in the tank to the new setting.

4. Test the water temperature by placing a thermometer in the hot water stream of one of your faucets. Record the reading. If not satisfied with the temperature, turn the thermostat toward the next large reference mark to the left. This represents 130 F. Test the water temperature again.
