Fun Titanic Games

The story of the Titanic has been the subject of movies and novels since its sinking in 1912.

The Titanic was a British ocean liner that was built for transatlantic passenger service between Southampton and New York City. On April 10, 1912, the Titanic sailed on its maiden voyage from Southampton with 2,200 passengers and crew aboard. Only four days later the Titanic hit an iceberg and sank, resulting in the deaths of 1,500 people. Though the event was tragic, the story has been glamorized by Hollywood and has become a theme for parties. Check out some fun Titanic-related games. Does this Spark an idea?

Titanic Memory Game

A memory game can be a fun Titanic party game. Gather items that are similar to items that might have been aboard the Titanic. Vintage clothing items or purses, antique looking jewelry, old books, an antique brush or comb are all viable options. Tell guests that these are the only items that were recovered from the sunken Titanic. Place all the items on a table and cover with a fancy linen table cloth. Pull the cloth off for a short amount of time and re-cover. Ask the guests to write down as many items as they remember from the table. The person who remembers the most items, wins the game.

Titanic Passenger Game

A list of Titanic passengers can be obtained at Encyclopedia Titanica. The list includes names and other personal facts. Use this list to make an index card for each guest at the party. Each guest must randomly draw a card (divide cards into male and female piles). The guests must assume the persona of the person on the index card throughout the party. At the end of the night, everyone must guess if they survived the Titanic sinking or if they went down with the ship. Reveal which guests survived and who didn't before everyone leaves.

Heart of the Ocean Necklace Game

The Heart of the Ocean necklace that was featured in the 1997 movie, Titanic, is actually fictitious. It was prominent in the film and is often associated with the Titanic. Find a necklace (party favor type) that is similar in look to the necklace in the movie. If you are unable to find that, draw a picture of a similar necklace. Hide the necklace somewhere in the party area. A treasure chest, a dresser drawer or an old-fashioned suitcase would be a good hiding spot. Create clues that guests must follow in order to locate the necklace. The guest who locates the necklace first is declared the winner.

Jack Dawson Games

Though Jack Dawson was not a real passenger of the Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio made the fictitious character famous and the name will forever be associated with the ship. Include Jack Dawson in Titanic Party games. Enlarge a picture of DiCaprio's character and put it on a wall. Gather the ladies in the party together and blindfold. The ladies are asked to wear different colored lipsticks. One by one the guests are asked to "Kiss Jack." The participant is blind-folded and spun around and then must try to "kiss" the picture of "Jack Dawson." Alternately, make "lip" shaped stickers out of red construction paper and tape and use these instead of having the women kiss the picture. If there are men at the party, provide the same game for them, only use a picture of Kate Winslet as the character of "Rose."
