Admiral Semmes Hotel


The Admiral Semmes Hotel is located four blocks from the convention center, and opened in 1940. During the 1970s, part of the hotel was converted to a retirement home for senior citizens. In 1978, both the hotel and retirement home closed down and the building was vacant until reopening as a luxury hotel in the mid-1980s.
