You can look stylish and stay comfortable while running.
If you are a runner, you know how important it is to stay comfortable while exercising. This includes breathable clothing, sturdy running shoes and keeping your hair out of your eyes. There are a few simple hairstyles you can try to keep you running without distraction. Does this Spark an idea?
The Classic Ponytail
A classic sporty look, the ponytail is both functional and stylish. To keep your hair out of your face, gather your hair at the back of your head and tie tightly with an elastic. You can try out a low ponytail or high ponytail, depending on your preference. If you are planning on wearing a baseball cap, which protects you from the sun, position your ponytail so that you can pull it through the back of the cap. If you have long hair, consider tying two or three more elastics in 3-inch sections throughout your ponytail. This will keep your hair from swinging back and forth too much, which can be an annoyance while running. For runners with bangs, use an elastic headwrap to push your bangs back and out of your eyes. Or, secure your bangs to the side with a couple of bobby pins.
The Messy Bun
This style is perfect for keeping hair not only out of your eyes, but off your back and shoulders. To create this hairstyle, simply pull your hair back in a ponytail and secure at the nape or higher with an elastic. Twist the ponytail up and circle around the base of the ponytail, creating a bun. Secure the bun with an elastic. You can leave stray ends for a messy look or use bobby pins to tuck wayward strands. Slick back your bangs with a headwrap. Along with being functional, this hairstyle is also romantic and chic.
The Braid
Braiding your hair is another comfortable, carefree option while running. Braids, unlike ponytails, won't swing back and forth. This style also adds interest and chicness to your running attire. To create a simple braid, braid your hair at the nape of your neck and tie with an elastic band. If you want to keep your hair off your neck, simply wrap your braid around itself to create a bun and secure with an elastic. Or, try making pigtails by splitting your hair in two sections and braiding. Pigtails, which work best for medium-length hair, also keep hair off your neck. For a fun twist, try French braiding your hair, starting at your crown. French braiding, which involves tight, interwoven strands, can also keep stray strands away from your face.
The Short Style
A short hairstyle is ideal for runners, as this naturally keeps your hair out of your eyes and off your back. Short hairstyles such as pixie cuts or bobs are also fashionable and easy to style. If you opt for a short hairstyle, use an elastic headwrap to push any bangs or short pieces away from your face. If you have hair that is too short to pull back into a ponytail, simply use bobby pins to twist and pin up your layers.
