Parade of Lights
The Parade of Lights is a signature event in Denver and offers spectators an opportunity to view sparkling lights, floats, bands, balloons and characters. While tickets to the event are free, spectators can purchase seats in the grandstands. The parade begins in front of the Civic Center Park and runs along a 2-mile route in downtown Denver.
Christkindl Market
Christkindl Market is an annual German tradition that begins at the end of November and lasts until Christmas Eve. The event is held in downtown Denver along the 16th Street Mall and features holiday lights, vendors and performances. Vendors offer glass-blown ornaments, smoked sausage, roasted nuts, German beer and hand-carved nutcrackers. Local schools, churches and other organizations perform live musical entertainment. The German Cultural Foundation of Rocky Mountains and German American Chamber of Commerce sponsor the event.
Civic Center SOUNDS
The Civic Center SOUNDS kicks off the Independence Day celebration on July 3rd with a free concert by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra plays a variety of patriotic songs, accompanied by fireworks and a light show. Featured songs include the "Star Spangled Banner," "An American in Paris," "American the Beautiful," "'Stars and Stripes Forever" and the "Armed Forces Salute."
Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration
Located in the Four Mile Park, the Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration features a reading of the Declaration of Independence and various American characters, including Abraham Lincoln and Uncle Sam. The Denver Concert Band provides live entertainment. Visitors can also visit the Four Mile Museum, and food and beverages are available.
