Make a "strike" at your bowling event by creating your own invitations and decorations for the occasion.
More than 45 million Americans participated in bowling in the year 2005, according to the Bowling Foundation. Its popularity places bowling among the top 10 sports in which people most often participate in the United States. Due to its team and individual variations, the sport of bowling appeals to children and adults alike. Therefore, you can hold a fun bowling event and carry the bowling theme throughout the celebration.
Invitations
Cut out a circle of white card stock paper to make the base for your bowling ball event invitation. Use a craft punch to create three large holes in the ball to look like the finger holes in a real bowling ball. Write the event information using a red marker somewhere on the invitation. Include the date, time and location.
Food
Serve bowling-themed food at your event. Cover a circular cake in white icing and use three small black candies to make the holes of a bowling ball. Bake a variety of cupcakes and purchase inexpensive plastic bowling novelties like bowling pins or balls at your favorite party store to use as cupcake toppers. Serve food typically found at a bowling alley, such as hamburgers, french fries or hot dogs.
Decorations
Carry your bowling theme into the decorations at your event. Repeat the same process used for the invitations and attach fishing lines to the bowling balls. Hang them from the ceiling of your venue. Enlarge photographs of various famous bowlers like Walter Ray and secure them to the walls. If your bowling event features team participants, allow them to bring a banner or handmade poster showcasing their team's logo and colors. Place these around the venue for additional decorations.
Decorate a Bowling Pin
Allow attendees of your bowling event to decorate their own bowling pin. Ask local bowling alleys to donate old pins. Clean them prior to the event and then give guests a variety of craft materials to use for decoration. Provide materials such as paint, stickers and glitter pens and allow guests to design their own pin to take home after the bowling event.
