Attend A University Of Michigan Football Game

Attend a University of Michigan Football Game

Michigan Stadium. The "Big House." Capacity: 107, 501. The home of the winningest program in college football history. If you've never been, here's what you need to know.

Instructions

Attend a University of Michigan Football Game

1. Wake up early. Games at the Big House are usually played at noon, and the game-day parties begin around 7 a.m. So make sure you're up early and ready to go!

2. Step outside and check the weather. If it's early September it should be warm enough for a t-shirt. If it's November though, you'll likely have to wear a heavy sweatshirt as it gets very cold in Ann Arbor.

3. Make sure you wear maize (yellow) and/or blue! Those are the Michigan colors and if you're a true fan, that's what you need to wear. Some games are designated "maize outs," in which all fans are encouraged to wear maize. You don't want to be the only one wearing a different color. There are plenty of stores on campus to buy Michigan gear (Steve and Barry's on State Street being one of the best).

4. Get to the stadium early (a few hours before kickoff) and enjoy a Michigan football tailgate. Since it's the largest football stadium in the country, there are plenty of people to eat and drink with before the game. Fans tailgate in the parking lot as well as on the University's golf course.

5. Once inside the stadium, make sure you are loud. It helps to know the fight song, "The Victors," one of the most recognizable fight songs in the country. Pump your first while yelling "Hail!" and get loud when the other team has the ball.

6. Soak in the experience of being part of the largest crowd watching a college football game in the country.
