Connect the audio cable to the receiver's subwoofer output.
A powered subwoofer is a large bass speaker with a built-in amplifier to power it as part of a home theater system. Subwoofers produce low-frequency effects (LFEs) that add realism to movie soundtracks. With enough amplification behind the sub, the air movement produced by the speaker creates bass you can also feel. The subwoofer connects to your home theater receiver with a subwoofer cable. A separate electrical cable connects the sub to a power outlet.
Instructions
1. Turn off the power to the receiver and unplug the subwoofer's electrical cord from the wall outlet.
2. Set the subwoofer anywhere on the floor around your home theater where it won't be in your way, but within the subwoofer cable's length of the receiver.
3. Plug the subwoofer cable from the receiver's sub output jack to the input on the back of the subwoofer. The cable has a single plug on each end for the connection.
4. Connect the subwoofer electrical cord to an outlet and turn on the receiver.
5. Adjust the sound by turning the volume control knob on the back of the sub to the preferred level.
