Finger Foods For A Ladies' Night Out Party

Keep the menu light and easy for a successful ladies' night out gathering.

The perfect theme for a Ladies' Night Out party is a cocktail gathering. And a good cocktail gathering calls for a selection of hors d'oeuvres and other finger foods. Try to find a balance--nothing too heavy, so the party can go on all night. And nothing too light, leaving guests unsatisfied. You can prepare snacks ahead of time so you can be part of the party, instead of stuck in the kitchen.

Crudites and Dip

The ultimate low-stress finger food choice is a crudite platter of vegetables and dip. Think beyond the usual celery sticks and baby carrots and consider strips of bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, snap pea pods and even baby zucchini. You can also add blanched or lightly steamed vegetables such as green beans and broccoli florets. Aim for a balance of colors. The accompanying dip can be anything from a ranch-style dressing to peanut sauce, homemade or from a bottle.

Bruschetta

Bruschetta is the generic term for any small bite placed on a toasted slice of bread. Tasty options include white bean spread and sauteed spinach, strips of roasted red pepper and thin slices of prosciutto or other ham. Another fun option is to assemble a make-your-own bruschetta bar, with the bread in one big basket and several toppings to choose from arranged in large serving bowls, buffet-style.

Think Pink: Pink Food

If you want to underline the "ladies" part of a ladies' night out, consider indulging in pink-themed food and drink. Possibilities abound: smoked salmon spread on crackers, strawberry cream cheese spread on mini-bagels and fruit skewers with watermelon and grapes.

Chocolate

Ladies love chocolate and bite-sized chocolate desserts are a great way to end a ladies' night out party. Brownie bites are an obvious way to go. Or go upscale with a selection of fancy chocolate truffles. Strawberries hand-dipped in chocolate are both elegant and personal.
