Palm trees and white sandy beaches can be found on Middle Torch Key.
Middle Torch Key is an island located in the lower Florida Keys between the islands of Ramrod Key and Little Torch Key. The U.S. Route 1 or the Overseas Highway runs across the bottom tip of the island. Unfortunately, as of 2010, there are no hotels on the island of Middle Torch Key, and although there are cabin-style resorts nearby, the four closest hotels are on Little Torch Key, Ramrod Key, Sugarloaf Key and in Marathon.
Parmer's Resort
Parmer's Resort is the closest hotel-style complex to Middle Torch Key at only 2 miles away. This beach front resort has an outdoor pool, a breakfast room, a large lawn beside the water, a breakfast facility and a laundry facility. The bedrooms come with queen, king or twin beds, each having a color television with cable and some having a kitchen. There is one luxury suite at the resort that is two floors and comes with a 45-inch flat screen television, a leather sofa and love seat, a full kitchen and an eight-person hot tub.
Looe Key Reef Resort
This resort is the next closest hotel facility to Middle Torch Key. Each room at Looe Key Reef has one double bed, two double beds, one queen bed, or one queen bed and a pullout sofa. The suite has a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and all rooms have a cable television and views of the outdoor pool and the Mangrove Waterways. There is entertainment six nights a week at the hotel and there are local dive shops, bars and restaurants only steps away.
Sugarloaf Lodge
Sugarloaf Lodge is located on the island of Sugarloaf, approximately 10 miles from Middle Torch Key. The Good family has been running the hotel and marina for over 40 years. There are 31 rooms in the complex, each having air conditioning and cable television, and each facing the lodge's waterfront. There is a heated swimming pool and tennis court on Sugarloaf's grounds, and there is an area on the grounds that allows access to the key's waters. A complimentary breakfast is included with each stay, and served in the lodge's restaurant -- a wood-fired pizzeria that also welcomes lunch and dinner patrons.
Knights Key Inn
Knights Key Inn, located in Marathon, is about a 25-mile drive along the Overseas Highway from Middle Torch Key. It's the closest hotel to the Seven Mile Bridge and it features seven villas and nine hotel-style rooms. The hotel rooms are equipped with double beds, kitchens, balconies or porches and 27-inch cable televisions. There is a heated pool and picnic tables throughout the grounds, and there are laundry facilities and barbecues available for you to use. A boat ramp and marina is available for you to use beside the Inn at Knights Key Campground.
