There are many ways to raise funds for a charity.
In order to raise funds for a charity, you will need to develop fundraising activities that both describe the charity's objectives and appeal to likely donors. If the charity that you want to raise funds for is a national charity, such as the Make a Wish Foundation, it's important to coordinate your efforts with the organization so that your efforts are viewed as legitimate. Unfortunately, some scams have involved using the name of a recognizable charity to obtain donations, which never actually make it to that charity.
Auction/Raffle/Sale
Hold an auction or raffle to raise awareness and funds for your charity. Ask members of communities in your area to donate items that can be auctioned or raffled off. If your aim is to raise funds for a local charity like a fund to help raise funds for low-income children who need medical treatments, creating an album of photos, stories and poems by children and parents for sale is one way to raise funds for your cause.
Entertainment Event
An entertainment event can take several different forms, from a talent show where the auction sponsors different talent acts to a concert or play in which you sell tickets to raise needed funds. A local heather group may be persuaded to put on a special performance for your event or create posters that can be placed throughout your community asking for performers/artists to donate their time and talent in support of your efforts.
Sporting Event
If the charity you wish to raise funds for supports research for finding a cause to a particular illness, a walk-a-thon or other sporting event might be an effective way to garner donations for that charity. Also, there are several charitys that are supported by athletes or established in memory of a sports figure. Enlist members of your community to participate in the sporting event that you have planned, such as a walk-a-thon. Ask local businesses to contribute supplies, such as bottled water, for exchange as being a listed sponsor of your event.
