Triathlons typically begin with the swim leg.


Athletes who enjoy swimming, biking and running can do all three sports in a triathlon. Triathlons occur all over the world. A run is the last component of a triathlon.


The Tri-Newbies website offers several free triathlon training programs for download in PDF format. These programs include 10-week programs for both sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, as well as 18-week programs for sprint, Olympic and half-Ironman distances. There are several testimonials about the programs offered, to give an aspiring triathlete guidance as to what the best plan for him may be.


Beginner Triathlete


BeginnerTriathlete.com offers a free triathlon training log that you can use with free online triathlon training programs. Features include a route tracker, which includes a route history that allows you to compare your pace over time, nutrition tracking, body metrics log, and a health log to document your levels of sleep, stress, soreness, weight and body fat among other items. You may also create training reports and triathlon graphs that show progress over time.


Trifuel


Trifuel offers several free online triathlon training programs. These programs do not have the logging capabilities that other sites include, but they do have straightforward, color-coded 12-week programs for sprint and Olympic distance triathlons.
