Goals For Fundraisers

Goals for fundraisers can often include more than just making money.

To have a successful fundraiser, you must incorporate certain elements to ensure all the necessary goals are met. It is important to research and understand the group that you are fundraising for and to continually set goals. Make sure the group is aware of the benefits of your campaign and how the money that is raised will be spent. Be creative and enthusiastic --- this will motivate people to reach those goals.

Identify Your Purpose

When planning your event it is important to figure out its main purpose. It could be to gain publicity about the topic, raise money or seek out a new network. Once the purpose has been established it will help you figure out your goals.

Fundraising Profit

It is essential to know exactly how much money needs to be raised at the event. All the activities at the fundraiser will revolve around reaching that financial goal. Keep in mind the amount decided upon will be net earnings --- the amount raised after deductions.

Funding

A list of budget costs should be completed while organizing the event. Cost will include things like invitations, staff, venue rental, entertainment, catering and security. Funding should take into account the financial goal you want to achieve. The amount raised should be well over the expense amount. Try to ensure there is extra money in case any unforeseen charges arise.

Committee

Putting together a committee is key. In most cases, the "host committee" is composed of wealthy donors or local celebrities. Their job is to contribute to the event and motivate others to follow. They will not be running the function but will play a large role in reaching the goals set.

Appreciation

It is very important to thank everyone who came out to the fundraiser or was a part of it. Send out thank-you notes to all the staff, vendors, volunteers, donors and contributors. This also builds up your network, so those same people will offer to help again or make donations for future events.
