Hawaii Running Clubs

Hawaii offers runners the right environment.

The temperate year around climate of the Hawaiian Islands provides the setting for outdoor activities including running clubs. These clubs offer casual and serious runners the opportunity to meet, train and enter races with other athletes. Due to Hawaii being a state composed of several islands, different clubs have emerged on each island, each with its own distinct characteristics.

Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club

Home to Mid-Pacific.

Based on the island of Oahu in Hawaii's capital city of Honolulu, this club organizes and operates over 20 races per year. They produce a quarterly newsletter with reports on the races including the results. Club members volunteer at the races as part of belonging to this running club.

Valley Isle Road Runners

Valley Isle serves the residents of the island of Maui.

Located on the island of Maui, this nonprofit organization is home to over 700 members. Founded in 1970, they sponsor over 15 events each year and sponsor an active youth program. Their programs serve runners of all talents, from beginners to the elite athlete.

Big Island Road Runners

This running club derives its name from its location on the island of Hawaii, known as the Big Island due to the fact it is the largest island in the Hawaiian chain. Like other running clubs, they sponsor a series of races. One particular race is the Hilo to Volcano Ultra Marathon and Relay covering 31.1 miles. The race goes from the small town of Hilo on the east side of the island to Volcano Village located at an elevation of 4,000 feet.

Team Jet Hawaii

This club is a registered US Triathlon Club which features swim, run and bike components. Its mission promotes a healthy lifestyle and training for athletes of all levels and abilities. Located in Honolulu, it was founded by Chet "the Jet" Blanton, an athlete with 45 marathons to his credit. The specialty of this club is training and participating in triathlons.
