Fingertip Skin Disorder

Fingertips are very sensitive. Because of their exposure to the elements, as well as over-use of the digits, skin conditions can occur, and they can be quite painful. Do not ignore any of these conditions if you think your fingertips are afflicted.

Considerations

If your fingertips are turning blue and are numb to the touch, you may have a condition called Raynaud's disease, according to the Mayo Clinic. The arteries that supply blood to your skin have become narrowed, which limits the blood circulation to your fingers and to your toes.

Other Painful Possibilities

If you are suffering from agonizing ulcers on your fingertips this may be caused by systemic scleroderma. If not treated, the ulcers may get so bad that they can cause gangrene and result in amputation. Have your fingers looked at by a doctor immediately.

Targets Fingertips

Eczema, another skin condition that can target the fingertips, causes skin to peel off and it can also cause numbness in your fingers, according to Skin-disorder-health-lib.com.

Not an Allergy

Dr. Alan Rockoff of the Rockoff Dermatology Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, explains that there is a condition called dyshidrotic eczema that results in tiny blisters on your fingers. Although it may appear as such, do not mistake this for an allergy. Why it occurs isn't understood; however, it is treated with cortisone-based cream.

Blisters

Sooner or later you are going to get a blister. The blister forms on the fingertip, under the surface, and then will rise to the surface. Sometimes a blister will burst and fluid leaks out. The skin on your fingertips may peel. When a blister bursts, it can be very painful. Cover it up with a bandage.
