Become An Olympic Runner

Since the beginning of Olympic history, running has been an event. Running is a sport that takes strength, dedication and determination. As with any other sport, it takes a great deal of time. A runner who aspires to become an Olympic athlete spends many hours a day preparing for the Olympics.


Instructions


1. Find a coach. A good coach will help guide and train a runner. They will become a mentor and a guide.


2. Discover which distance and event best fits your style and body's capabilities. Some runners may do extremely well at the two mile, while others are better at the hurdling events.


3. Train for your event. Your coach will help you. Different coaches have different methods, but it will all include many long days of running and physical training.


4. Participate in running events. These events help a runner get a feel for competition. It will bring you to the notice of scouts and the USA Track and Field Team.


5. Meet the requirements for your event. The USA Track and Field Team have their standards and requirements to try out for the Olympic team listed on their website.


6. Try out for the Olympics. The USA Track and Field Team will post the date and place for the tryouts.


7. Participate in the Olympics if you make the cut. For many athletes, there is no higher goal to achieve.
