According to the American Diabetes Association, fruit should be consumed whole because the fiber and other nutrients in fruit balance out the natural sugars. Eat fruit whole, never juice fruit unless you want a blood sugar spike. In addition these foods also contain omega-3 fatty acids which are beneficial for overall health because they reduce inflammation in the body. Top choices include almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, cashews and peanuts.
Eat Whole Grains and Sprouted Breads
For quick energy eat a slice of sprouted bread with homemade jam. Whole grains and sprouted breads contain healthy carbohydrates and other essential vitamins and minerals. Bread also contains fiber which will help you feel full and satisfied for a longer period of time.
