Fundraising Ideas Using Bricks

Use bricks to help your fundraising efforts.

Bricks often symbolize the building blocks of a home, business or organization. Using this foundational idea and symbolism of the brick can help you in your fundraising efforts. You can use the bricks as a direct way of raising funds or as a visual symbol to encourage those working with you in your fundraising efforts.

Engraved Bricks

If you're raising money to build a new building for a cause, offer to engrave the bricks that will be placed in the building, sidewalk or memorial for a set donation amount. For example, if Mr. and Mrs. Smith donate money to have a brick engraved, they can choose to have "Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith" or a short phrase like "In Loving Memory of Janice Smith." When the building, sidewalk or memorial is constructed, their brick--along with all of the other engraved bricks--will be placed in a visible location for passers-by to see.

Building Visual

Using bricks as a visual to encourage your fellow fundraisers in their efforts works especially well if you're raising money for some sort of building. Gather enough bricks to build a tiny replica of the building. Divide the total amount of money you need to raise by the number of bricks you have, and assign that amount to each brick. Begin building the structure one brick at a time--place another brick on to the building when you raise that amount of money. This helps the fundraisers see the efforts of their work and motivates them to raise even more money to complete the goal. It can also be a nice display for your community so people can see how your have raised, which may encourage others to donate.

Sell Bricks

If you need to raise funds to build a new building or to tear down and replace an old one, selling bricks from the old one as a piece of memorabilia is a great way to raise funds. Another option is to sell bricks to donors like the ones that will be used, engraved with the name of the new building and the year. This creates a costly initial investment, but you can easily set the price of the bricks to cover the costs and raise more money.
