Locomotives In "Microsoft Train Simulator"

"

Microsoft Train Simulator" features models based on modern day trains.

"Microsoft Train Simulator" runs on the Windows operating system. Players are put in charge of operating a train smoothly as they travel along six railway routes. Every aspect of running a real train is simulated as accurately as possible, right down to operating the windshield wipers and horn. While there is a decent selection of locomotives included with the game, You can downloaded more from the Internet and add them to the game.

Instructions

1. Download the locomotive that you want to add to Microsoft Train Simulator. Websites like RailServe and Trainsimmer (see Resources) have a good selection of locomotives that can be downloaded for free.

2. Right-click on the downloaded file and select "Extract All." You will end up with a folder that has the name of the locomotive you want to install, for example "Amtrak SW900 #799."

3. Right click on this folder and select "Cut."

4. Navigate to the "Trainset" folder in the directory where Microsoft Train Simulator is installed. Right-click anywhere in this folder and select "Paste."

5. Navigate to the Steam4me website (see Resources) and follow the procedure described in order to make a "Consist" for the locomotive that you have downloaded. All the tools to do so are already included in Microsoft Train simulator.

6. Start the game and try out the new Locomotives that you have added.
