Florida Camping Cabins Near The Beach

Beach camping cabins can offer private beach views

With sugar sand, sparkling green water, and breezy beachside activities such as kiteboarding, surfing, kayaking, or sailing, camping along Florida's beaches attracts all types of travelers. Fortunately for travelers who lack either an RV or a desire to sleep in a tent, even some of Florida's most isolated beaches have camping cabins on or near the beach.

Bahia Honda (Florida Keys)

Located just south of Marathon-the midway point of the Florida Keys-Bahia Honda State Park devotes the west half of the park to cabins for campers. The park has six cabins in three buildings, one of which offers wheelchair access. The cabins stand on stilts. They have kitchens but no televisions or phones.

Cayo Costa (Southwest Florida)

Accessible only by private boat or ferry from the little-known Florida towns on Pine Island, Cayo Costa State Park is a barrier island off the west coast. This seven-mile island has mangroves, sandy beaches and clear, warm water. The cabins have no electricity or water but come with bunk beds, a table, and an outdoor grill. This island is remote, and campers should bring their own food and water.

Grayton Beach (Panhandle/Northwest Florida)

Florida's panhandle offers travelers fresh oysters, white sand beaches and forests. The smell of magnolias tints the air, while live oaks tower over some of the highest elevations in a relatively flat state. Grayton Beach State Park has 30 two-bedroom, one-bath cabins (including two ADA-compliant cabins) moments away from the panhandle beaches. These cabins also have screened-in porches and outdoor grills.

Jonathan Dickinson (Southeast Florida)

This park has 12 cabins on the Loxahatchee River, but the sand dunes of Hobe Sound beckon from inside the boundaries of this park. The park has mangroves, swamps, and 11 other ecosystems to explore, including the beach.

St. Augustine (Northeast Florida)

St. Augustine beaches appeal to visitors on Florida's east coast-whose waves are higher than those of Florida's west coast (according to visitflorida.com)-and families visiting historic Old Town often make a beach getaway part of their trip. North Beach Camp Resort has an ocean-side deck, a boat ramp, and cabins that sleep up to six people. The cabins have decks, efficiency kitchens, bathrooms, air conditioning, television and DVD players.
