Apply Fertilizer To Wet Grass

Fertilizer Application for Wet Grass

Not every spring has long periods of dry weather in which to apply fertilizer. Many areas in the United States, experiences the highest amount of rain in April through May. Be sure to avoid walking across the yard during these times of intense rainfall. Leaving footprints in the yard will damage the turf and give weeds a bare area to grow. Keep pets and children off the yard until the end of the rain. Apply fertilizer to give grass needed nitrogen to green up for the summer. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Press your fingers into the soil. The soil should feel moist, but not saturated. According to Cornell University, gardeners should not apply fertilizer to saturated soil.

2. Choose a fertilizer that can be applied to wet grass. This type of fertilizer is generally not only a fertilizer, but also weed control. These fertilizers are called "weed and feed."

3. Broadcast the fertilizer on your lawn. Refrain from using a granular fertilizer spreader, because it will leave tracks across the lawn. Walk back and forth following an imaginary line to get an even spread.

4. Allow the fertilizer to go undisturbed for 48 hours.
